How to make shower gel. This one is made from mild surfactants and packed full of highly beneficial and safe ingredients which are all bio-degradable; if you like some foamy goodness, this one is for you.
This post on how to make luxurious shower gel (sulfate free) is one I'm so excited to share because I'm pretty certain everyone is going to like this. Shower/bath gels made from gentle surfactants have become something I can hardly seem to stop playing around with and I mean formulation wise. for some odd reason I just keep experimenting with these surfactants and coming up with all sorts of sudsy thingzies. Ooooh yea I certainly said ''for some odd reason'' because I'm trying to pretend like I don't understand that the reason for that is all these bubbles I keep getting out of them and that's my confession.
Sitting in a bathtub full of rich bubbles makes me feel like I'm riding the clouds. That's where I get that much talked about 'me time' you know, where you get a few minutes to clear your head, think or do whatever else 'me time' is supposed to symbolize. And because that takes more than just five minutes, what my skin is absorbing from the water does matter. So being a formulator whose focus is on skin safe ingredients, it is only natural that the products I use on my self be equally safe. What that means is that my bath products are loaded only with the good stuffs. That is just so that I can ride my clouds in sheer bliss...with no worries. Just two short pumps of this luxurious shower gel (sulfate free) and I get a bathtub full of bubbles that lasts forever...ooookay, forever is too much of an exaggeration but what I'm trying to say is that the bubbles does indeed lasts and lasts geez! I feel like a toddler just thinking about it. Like you see from the title it is sulfate free and by that I mean free of the harsh kinds of sulfates. Let me now familiarize you with the ingredients I use for this formula.
Lauryl glucoside, a conditioning, bio-degradable,plant based non-ionic surfactant forms the base for this one. It is a very gentle surfactant derived from plant sugars and fatty alcohols present within coconut. Known to be non-irritating,it therefore has great dermatological compatibility with all skin types. Combined with other non-ionic surfactants, it produces a luxurious foam which is the secret behind all those suds I talked about.
Decyl glucoside, another very mild non-ionic surfactant which is very similar to Lauryl glucoside but with a lesser viscosity. It proves highly suitable for those with sensitive skin and it has excellent foaming properties. Also derived from coconut it is bio-degradable. It partners pretty well with Lauryl glucoside in this formula to produce a gentle cleansing, conditioning and sudsy solution.
The inclusion of Rose hydrosol in this luxurious shower gel (sulfate free) just packs it full of so much skin soothing and skin regenerating goodness. From preventing and fighting off infections to soothing aches, healing scars and enhancing mood,The beneficial properties of this hydrosol just seems endless. Rose hydrosol is known to improve complexion, reduce skin redness, it's anti-bacterial properties may also help to reduce acne and talking about acne; [click here] to read a recipe post I made about what has helped and is still very much helping me.
Whenever I want to relax, Lavender is the first thing that comes to mind. And since one of the reasons for having a bath includes relaxation, it therefore makes perfect sense that it features in this how to make luxurious shower gel (sulfate free) formula. its smell alone only gives me happy thoughts. Besides being a relaxant, it also has anti-irritating,moisturizing and soothing properties.
Glycerin which happens to be one of my favorite humectants and which for the life of me I am yet to understand why some people find it tacky plays an important role in this formula by helping our skin retain moisture which in turn prevents our skin from drying out meaning our skin is kept hydrated, soft, supple and fine lines are smoothened out.
Lactic acid a naturally occurring acid produced by fermented foods helps to regulate the p.h of this formula, it also offers some moisturizing, exfoliating and skin brightening benefits.
If you have been following before now you must have guessed that Aloe vera has to be part of this formula and yes you are definitely right it is. Many years ago I used to think that aloe vera was highly overrated but that was totally my fault as I didn't even have the slightest clue about how to use it. So now that I do, I just can't seem to get enough of it,I really do try to restrain myself from including it in nearly every formula;it is just that awesome and so versatile. It is conditioning, healing, hydrating, moisturizing and with so many other beneficial properties who can blame me for falling in love with it.
Some aromatic extracts (aromas extracted from plants) combined with the Rose and Lavender hydrosols gives this gel a delicious scent, nothing over-powering at all. You certainly can use any scent you like.
Xanthan gum brings it all together to form a beautiful gel. Final ingredient for how to make luxurious shower gel recipe is our fortifier Geogard ECT a preservative approved for natural formulations . Don't even attempt making this without a preservative unless you're intending on using it up immediately and NOOOO! vitamin E and Tea tree oil are not preservatives. So with that off my chest, let's see the recipe.

Make sure your work surface and utensils are well sanitized.
Measure out Xanthan gum into an empty beaker, add your glycerin to it and make a slurry. You have the option of increasing your glycerin to a maximum of 24g thereby reducing the same amount from phase C. The lesser the amount of glycerin you use, the thicker your slurry will be and the more glycerin you use, the thinner your slurry will be).
After making your slurry, set it aside then measure out Lauryl and Decyl glucoside into another beaker. Gently mix well with a spatula then add your Aloe vera powder mix that in as well. Once your're done with that, add phase A into phase B then thoroughly mix. It takes a bit of an effort at this point especially if you opted for a thicker slurry. A thinner slurry is much more easier to incorporate. If you like, you can click here to watch the video on how to make luxurious shower gel (sulfate free)). The goal at this point is to have the xanthan gum well hydrated. Next, gently add the ingredients of phase C and stir till homogeneous. Add the ingredients of phase D whilst thoroughly mixing after each addition. When the whole solution is well homogenized, leave it to rest until the next day. Yayyyy! now you know how to make a luxurious shower gel(sulfate free). The final step is to package your luxurious shower gel and indulge yourself...
